CH recently hosted a competition in search of new talent and a new cover image for our Facebook page. We called upon our community of skilled artists, designers and creatives for image-based entries that would engage and inspire other readers. The original piece of artwork needed only to contain the phrase “Inspiration for Creative People” and fit the spatial parameters of a banner image—the rest was left to imagination. We’re very pleased to announce that the winning submission came from Peer Schlieperskoetter of Germany.

“Agda Asin,” Schlieperskoetter’s piece, depicts a surreal alien-like figure, peering out at the viewer; equal parts curious, sensitive and adventurous. It’s human in some ways while also being what the artist describes as an abstract construction of hope. “I was always, as a kid, looking into the sky—excited about aliens and the potential for life outside. I definitely thought there was life. I began illustrating what I hoped would one day come to my planet.” The artist, who studied graphic design and plans on teaching art, notes, “Although it is made in digital form, the colors are taken from nature.” He enhanced the digital work with watercolor as a finishing layer. Using CH’s signature color (which he describes as his favorite as well) Schlieperskoetter’s piece resonated with us and we’re thrilled to be showcasing his work on our Facebook page for the next few months.
