Tiger Trading Co. NYC Pop-Up Shop

Everything is free at this showcase of Asian fashion, modern art and design at a repurposed dollar store

The Tiger Trading Co. pop-up, in NYC’s Chinatown, is not your typical branded shopping event. In fact, everything within is free—if you snag a coaster from a handful of select affiliates (which happen to be bars in the direct vicinity). The event, presented by Tiger Beer, isn’t aimed at retail. It’s all about showcasing the best of Asian creativity today. In a repurposed Canal Street dollar store, Tiger’s team has curated over 500 items representing their belief in the best of contemporary Asian fashion, art, design and even technology. The space carries an inspired vibrancy—an amalgamation of the artworks and fashion accessories presented within.

One message stands strong at the core of Tiger Trading Co.: “Made in Asia” doesn’t translate to low quality. The products have been drawn from an array of nations. From Hong Kong’s Goods of Desire to Vietnam’s Mekong ++, the artists and entrepreneurs on site defy stereotype. There’s also exceptional representation by Tiger Beer’s home nation of Singapore. And again, the products within are free. One coaster translates to one item. But perhaps grab a Tiger Beer along the way.

Tiger Trading Co. takes place at 343 Canal Street, NYC and will be open from 6-9PM today.
