Berlin Bound
by Ami Kealoha
I'm off to Berlin, well-prepped with Very Style Guides (pictured), suggestions from a German expat, and friends to visit. Nearly 10 years have passed since I was last in Berlin and at the time there was a palpable sense of a city reeling from one of the century's historic events; every other building seemed to be under construction, the art was amazing, and, by contrast, I found the rest of the city grim. I look forward to re-visiting the capital, exploring the shops, galleries, restaurants, etc. and will be sharing the best of what I come across here. Check back throughout the week for reports from the frontlines of post-"city du jour" and post-cold war Berlin.

Scott Snibbe at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie
by Ami Kealoha
For over a decade, San Francisco-based artist Scott Snibbe has been designing his own software to make interactive video projections that cause passersby to linger and play with his creations, mesmerized by the unique experience of technology's ability to respond to human movement. Much of his work alludes to the interplay of light and shadow and his latest show, titled "Central Mosaic," premiering this Tuesday October 18th in Paris' Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, is no exception. The piece projects recorded silhouettes of people who walk by with the images becoming smaller as they move clockwise toward the edges of the screen to get replaced by new silhouettes.
Shure E Series Gaming Edition
by Evan Orensten
We've been listening to music on our Shure E4c headphones since they came out last year and were excited to see the new Gaming Edition. These are technologically the same as the E Series currently available, but they are black (to match your gaming gear or your new iPod) and they have a shorter cord. The Gaming Edition will include the E2g, E3g and the E4g; sound quality and price increase as you move up the line (from around $99 to $299).
Sneaker Pimps Video
by Josh Rubin
One more bit of coverage from the NYC stop of Sneaker Pimps. This video, produced by James Sharpe and narrated by Derek Snider, gives a glimpse of the event and includes interviews with Stash, Futura and Jason Bass (pictured) talking about the state of the sneaker scene.

Warmaking Show
by Ami Kealoha
Warmaking, a five-artist group show about "the nature of wars and wars of nature," opens this Thursday October 20th at Williamsburg's Riviera gallery and runs through October 30th. Works incorporate symbols of death, like in curator Kevin Devine's Harvest Festival (pictured), morph imagery of political leaders (see Joseph Ari Aloi's works on musical scores), and otherwise engage current conceptions of war and the contradictory roles it plays.
