Shift: 8 Custom Be.BIKEs
by Josh Rubin
Shift is an exhibition of eight custom-designed Be.BIKE bicycles by eight highly-acclaimed graffiti-influenced artists: FUTURA, HAZE, KAWS, KENJI HIRATA, MATZU MTP, MISK, SKWERM, and STASH. Each bike has been altered completely to represent the artist's vision. Shift brings together a representation of the historical expanse of street art, from the 1970s to the present. Production of each artist's edition is limited to 100 units. The exhibition will be accompanied by a video installation by REID VAN RENESSE.
The exhibition is produced in association with Dreams So Much and is located at the Supreme Trading NY Gallery at 213 N. 8th St. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn through December 23, 2004.
Stencil1
by Josh Rubin

Want to spread some street art? Don't have the time, motivation or talent for making your own stencils? Stencil1, a Brooklyn-based graphics company, is releasing its first volume of graffiti stencils. The collection of 50 stencils features urban icons and eclectic images from turntables to unicorns. All stencils are pre-cut on 8 1/2 x 11 mylar sheets, allowing them to used numerous times. And just to keep the feedback looping, they've started a gallery of all the applications their customers have made.
Designer Tomato Juice
by Josh Rubin
The Japanese E-Zine Shift offers on their site designer tomato juice for 2,000 yen (about $19). It’s made from organic tomatoes in the town of Toasa in Hokkaido. The red elixir is said to be of a higher quality than normal tomato juice with a fresher taste than other brands. This product is the collaborative effort of Taketo Oguchi and Hideki Inaba. The bottle design could be seen as either a typographer’s wet dream—potential bloody mary in a typographically designed bottle—or nightmare, like a wolf in sheep’s clothing depending on his or her childhood experience with the stuff. Either way, there’s no doubt about it—this ain’t your grandma’s V8!! I’m just waiting for the designer prune juice to come out next! Mm.. mm.. good!!
