Timbuk2 + Mission Cycling Especial Raider Backpack

The two San Francisco neighbors collaborate on a compact backpack for daily commuting

A longstanding staple in the San Francisco cycling scene, Timbuk2 has provided messengers and commuters with performance-driven bags since 1989. Capturing the attention of a similar audience of cycling enthusiasts, Mission Cycling Club was founded in 2008 to provide a competitive environment for non-racers looking to get their licks in. To celebrate the serious addiction to cycling and a love for the community around it, the minds behind both brands created the ideal backpack for daily commutes to and from work—and the Especial Raider Backpack is it.

Designed for the desk jockey who refuses to drive to work, the compact and lightweight bag features a special pocket and folding board to keep your work shirt in shape, and internal shoe pockets for carrying your derbys on the way in and cleats quarantined once there. Plus an internal closet hook makes for easy hanging and access when stationary. On the outside the bag features two side pouches for water or breakfast bars, and a small pocket with secure key loop.

The mesh back panel provides appropriate air flow to keep your back cool, and your shirt on the inside pressed. To keep weight down, water out and visibility high, the shell is made of ripstop nylon with reflective detailing. And, as a final note, the slender bag is machine washable—a plus for both work and home environments. Visit Timbuk2 for more and Mission Cycling for details on other collaborations and their daily activities. The Especial Raider Backpack is available today, 4 November, for $79.
