Growing up in the suburbs of NYC, VoyVoy designer Nat Disston first learned to surf on the beaches of Long Island. But it wasn't until he moved to the northern Florida surf town of Ponte Verda Beach in high school that he really developed a passion for the sport and the art of crafting surfboards. Working with his father, Disston began making and selling his own surfboards in 2006 and what had started as a passion project soon became a successful business. "When I went to college, everything got put on hold because I couldn't make surfboards out of my dorm room. That's when I started sketching shirts," he explains.

Designing his shirts with the same philosophy as his surfboards, Disston aims to create a collection that melds effortless style with increased functionality. "The main idea behind my surfboards was to create a board that improved upon a classic," Disston says, "this idea of updating a basic is what VoyVoy is all about."

In anticipation of summer, VoyVoy recently launched a breezy oxford button-down with an ingenious extra functionality hidden under its shirt tails. "To me, there is no better summer staple than a white oxford," explains Disston. "When I wore mine to the beach, I always caught myself wiping my sunglasses and phone screen on my shirt tails, so we thought, why not add something to do a better job. So, I began researching microfibers and found a microsuede that we could interface—literally fuse—to the cotton so that there was no outline of the square on the shirt tails."

Besides its hidden microsuede patches, VoyVoy's clever oxford also thoughtfully incorporates the brand's signature deep Gingham pockets. Made in New York, the shirts are constructed from a soft but sturdy pima cotton and detailed with mother of pearl buttons.

VoyVoy's Summer Oxford is $98 and can be purchased here or shop the rest of the VoyVoy collection on their website.
