For the second installment of Construkt, Marithé+François Girbaud's quarterly artist-designed series of objects, New York-based designer Dror Benshetrit created these limited edition handmade ceramic sculptures and jewelry pieces called Urban Cast-Aways. The result of experimentation with ceramic, Benchetrit ultimately used fur to make the collection that includes one-of-a-kind art objects, rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. Like Dror's broken "Vase of Phases" and martini glass, his unconventional use of a classic material becomes elegantly subversive. Urban Cast-Aways debut tomorrow 19 May 2006 at Girbaud's flagship store in New York's Soho.
