While often accredited to '80s punk nostalgia, the lingering obsession with skulls in fashion also owes a debt to Mexico's Dia de los Muertos traditions.
It's that Mexican heritage that fuels Santa Muerte's latest line of tees and jackets. Their summer 2007 collection is called Renegados, and features motifs like snakes, Frida Kahlo, religious icons, Aztec headdresses and Zapatistas. The designs stay coherent with symmetry and are some of the least played we've seen.
