Known for their efforts in sustainable production and simplified design, Portland-based Nau offers a selection of appealing, subdued outdoor apparel with each coming season. Their latest men's collection for Fall/Winter 2012 collection includes three pieces that caught our eye for their level of comfort, style and practicality.
Wool Patrol Hoody
Half hooded sweatshirt and half jacket, this hybrid brings together the best of both worlds for a lightweight, water-resistant option. The jacket's distinct wool is woven with a DWR finish and fused with a two-layer WPB laminate back. The body is lined with a recycled polyester taffeta and the underarms with recycled mesh, so the durable, breathable hoody will keep you warm and dry. Also noteworthy are the organic waxed cotton trim on seams and cuffs, and a rear pocket that will hold your U-lock. Expect to see the Wool Patrol Hoody online in the weeks to come for $395.
For many areas around the globe Fall is a fleeting time when a thick jacket is too much, but a flannel is not enough. Enter the Nau shirtjacket. Their version comes with 800 fill goose down and a sharp, slim silhouette. The extremely lightweight mid-layer has been part of the collection since Nau launched, but this time it's updated with a 22 denier recycled Japanese polyester shell and finished with DWR to protect against light rain and wind. Find it now as part of the early fall release for $235.
Boundary Long Sleeve Shirt
Designed with movement in mind, like most Nau products, this slightly unconventional button-down is made of 90% organic cotton, 9% nylon and 1% spandex for just a hint of stretch. The tailored, flexible fit makes for a smart option for those who commute by bike. Also an early release, the Boundary LS Shirt is available now for $105.
