Following up on their successful launch only a year ago, and a critically acclaimed partnership with Pharrell Williams in Autumn 2013, French-Italian outerwear and accessories company Moncler is expanding their range of sunglasses, the Lunettes. The 14 pairs of shades, along with 12 pairs of eyeglasses, are technically sound, incorporating ultra-light materials (either acetate or titanium for the body) and effective contours. They also happen to be stylistically superb. The range actually makes sense for wearing both in the mountains and on city streets.

Moncler cites 1950s St. Moritz as the inspiration behind the line. The silhouette clearly evokes the era, especially with the unisex “pilot” sunglass frame, which is sporty but respectably classic. Other models feature experimental color effects, blending a sophisticated contrast into an all-around gorgeous piece of eyewear. The glasses call to mind ski-splendor and luxury lodging, but in true Moncler fashion, they’re nuanced enough to feel present day and demonstrate the forward thinking aesthetics the brand has become renowned for.

The new Moncler Lunettes collection will be available in boutiques, select opticians and online starting April 2014 for $285 and up.
