Levi’s California + Alternative, Beams and Pendleton

An eclectic holiday capsule paying homage to ’60s West Coast style with a touch of Japanese influence

Building on their impressive offering of limited garments in 2014, the newly minted Levi’s California label comes correct for a limited holiday capsule collection featuring collaborations with Japan’s beloved Beams and Pacific Northwest favorite Pendleton. Alternative serves as the exclusive US retail partner and as a platform for the collaboration. Spanning workwear, outerwear, sweats (that of course were given luxe Beams treatment) and knits, the offering shows direct influence of mountain wear and West Coast style from the ’60s, drawing on time-tested wools and waxed cotton.

“Alternative served as a platform for like-minded businesses,” explains Alternative’s Design Director Orondava Mumford. “There are a lot of similarities between Levi’s and Alternative, from sustainability to transparency and even creatively.” Standouts include the Beams jacket and sweats along with the iconic Pendleton print button-down. The outerwear is designed with mild West Coast winters in mind, but will no doubt stand up to early and late winter in colder climes.

Starting 11 November 2014, the collection will be available in the US exclusively through Alternative’s webstore and retail stores in California and NYC.
