Protection from damage caused by workouts, sweat, sun and pollution
Launching online this week, FRÉ Skincare has been thoughtfully dreamed up, researched and concocted with one goal in mind: to protect skin from damage caused by exposure to the sun and pollution. While that is a common mission for skin products, FRÉ differs in their approach; they were thinking solely about women who workout and therefore sweat—meaning their usual sunscreens and moisturizers might not actually offer the protection needed. Observing a woman jog in their adopted home of Tel Aviv, FRÉ founders Mickael Bensadoun and Michael Azoulay saw that not only did her thick, white sunscreen not look great, it was being sweated off and making her squint—obviously stinging her eyes. Thus, they noted that these three problems needed to be solved.
Born in Morocco and growing up with the knowledge of how important and beneficial the Argan tree’s output is, Bensadoun wanted to explore the various properties. After much research, conducted with the help and guidance of more scientific brains, Bensadoun and Azoulay invented Argania Active Complex—a blend of organic Argan oil and Argan leaf water extract, with Argan stem cells. The most important ingredient in their products, Argania Active Complex is full of antioxidants and fatty acids, making it intensely nourishing and rejuvenating.
With three products, FRÉ offers a cleanser, serum and moisturizer with sunscreen. The cleanser (dubbed Purify Me) is a gentle face wash that’s free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, petrolatum and other common additives. This means the cleanser doesn’t foam, but still offers a smooth and clean feeling after use—rather than the squeaky clean, dry, tautness that comes with more intense products. With jojoba beads, it’s gently exfoliating and the Argania Active Complex is anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory. The serum (Revive Me) is super-smooth and delightful to apply—making skin feel smooth and silky. It regenerates collagen and skin elasticity, working to rejuvenate and keep your look youthful. Perhaps the most important of the three is the moisturizer/sunscreen (Protect Me) which is lightweight, but still protects from damaging UVA, UVB and IRA rays. The blend is SPF 30 and water-resistant for 80 minutes—meaning when you sweat, it won’t wear off or sting your eyes.
