Emojis are a staple in our digital vocabulary, but it wasn’t always this way. The tiny cartoons endured a tumultuous past before ever becoming a texting necessity. This is especially true for one of them: the poop emoji. Originating in Japan, emojis were used to add a certain emotional weight to otherwise dry messages, and the poop emoji was possibly the most popular of them all.
