Samsung Honored for Ingenious Use of Screens

Samsung and their ad agency Leo Burnett have won AdWeek’s top honor—the Gravity Award—for their ingenious idea to use Samsung’s technology to solve one of Argentina’s deadliest problems: traffic accidents on two-lane roadways. The duo mounted four monitors to the backs of cargo trucks to display the opposite direction lane and any oncoming vehicles, making it easy for cars stuck behind the slow-moving trucks to see if it’s safe to pass. Though it may not be feasible to strap Samsung screens onto every truck, we can definitely see this idea at work with cheaper technology—and some brands have already expressed interest in expanding it.
