Art History in Masking Tape
on 09 December 2014
Nasa Funahara, a senior at Musahino Art University in Kodaira, Japan, has recreated some of the worlds most recognizable paintings with masking tape. Unlike the bland white or blue tape found here in the States, Japan offers hundreds of varieties, all differing in color and pattern. After collecting over 450 rolls, Funahara decided to put her collection to use by cutting and pasting small bits of tape to build out reproductions of famous works like "The Last Supper", "Mona Lisa", "Girl with a Pearl Earring" and more.
