Grilled corn on the cob is a summer BBQ staple, but fresh corn "off" the cob can be even more versatile, adding color and sweetness to any dish from breakfast to dinner. Providing an alternative to the cumbersome, messy and semi-risky method of removing corn kernels with a knife, the Corn Twister was designed by Swiss kitchenware company Kuhn Rikon, who is known for quality cooking tools that are as brightly hued and enjoyable as they are functional and convenient. Kuhn Rikon has already redesigned kitchen essentials like the salt and pepper grinder, and the Corn Twister is yet another one of their inventive, fun ideas that's easy on the eyes, as well as the hands.

Shaped like a corncob, the tool works with one simple continuous twisting movement to pop the kernels off easily and cleanly. The green silicone husk is soft and pliable, making it easy to get a firm hold on the corncob—an advantage over any slippery knife technique. Also, the husk of the dishwasher-safe Corn Twister serves as a sheath for the blade end for safe and easy storage.

Whether you're adding freshly cooked corn to a salad or sauté, the Corn Twister is a cute and useful utensil to add to your kitchen arsenal. The Kuhn Rikon Corn Twister is available at Sur La Table for $15.
