(25 February 2009) - Erica Weiner has created a small jewelry empire from her Lower East Side apartment, making eye-catching, affordable pieces that are delicate and tell an intriguing story. One piece that caught our attention (as well as that of many fashion bloggers) is the Waldorf Astoria necklace ($85). Erica created a hand-cast replication of a cocktail pick used in the 1930s-50s at the Waldof Astoria Hotel....

Raeburn Design
(12 December 2008) - Christopher Raeburn cleverly constructs high-end street wear from re-deployed parachutes and military fabrics. Sourced from uniforms of specific countries and vintages, Raeburn creates elegant pieces of clothing in stark contrast to the combat-ready materials from which they were made. We especially like the Parachute Jacket (pictured) for its breezy look. Using mainly recycled materials, these ethically-correct garments are produced in England. The outerwear features...

Coffin Couches
(14 October 2008) - Is it green? Is it funny? Is it Halloween? Or is it just a bad luck? I actually think Coffin Couches are super smart and stylish and would not mind getting one of these beautiful couches next time I move to a new apartment. They are made of recycled (but unused) coffins, after all. Coffin Couches start at $3,500 and are available in a...

A sustainable alternative to granite, quartz and other quarried stone standards, Vetrazzo's variety is just as strong and durable but easier to...

Generic Man Fall 08
(29 July 2008) - Here's a little peek of what's to come from The Generic Man this fall courtesy of Arktip. The upcoming line looks as if it's made from recycled clothing—most likely Boy Scout or military clothing. There's not much information on this yet, but the recycled cotton outer adds a casual, rough-hewn look. Dark brown laces contrasted with tan is always complimentary and the plaid inner...
