This Week in Needled
(27 January 2006) - As Needled was a Yahoo pick this week, it held off on further posts about scantily-clad tattooed burlesque queens. At least for a week. Instead, it stayed focused on tattoos in the news with some potent photos and links to Guatemala gangs and their prison ink, creative ways tattoo artists have adapted to harsh zoning laws, and a public service announcement on why one...

Swipple
(26 January 2006) - The concept behind Swipple is so simple, it makes you wonder why there aren't more sites like it. An online art gallery that exhibits the work of different artists from a wide range of styles, it's easy to navigate, simple to browse, and light on pretension. It lets the art sell itself — just like a good gallery should. There's a Swipple Shop "because...

Flavorpill Sundance
(24 January 2006) - Describing Flavorpill Sundance, a blog devoted to the happenings of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, one is tempted to say it’s all over that indiefest like a cheap suit. But that would be wrong. Flavorpill isn’t a cheap suit, it’s much more urbane than any draped piece of polyester. With its team of dozens of editors, reporters, and stringers, digging down...

SMITH Magazine
(23 January 2006) - The hyperbolically-titled "bloggers revolution" has changed publishing. Virtually free to publish, the internet phenomenon has created digital publishing, a medium that is simultaneously wholly democratic yet often schizophrenic. Now there's a mag that's unabashedly harnessing the infinite pool of online writing talent into one monthly publication. SMITH Magazine, launched earlier this month, seems to operate on the age-old adage that "everyone has a story...

Answer: Off The Podium - a website built by the NBC Broadcating Corp. Now you'd expect the old dinosaur on Rockefeller Plaza to build a clunky site with little content, but no; Off The Podium is an attractive and informative package that's a...

Needled This Week
(20 January 2006) - Tattooed bikers and burlesque beauties started off the week in Needled with a look at the work of renowned photographer Lisa Kereszi, whose fine art photography has been described as "visual poetry". Visual poetry could also describe the tattoo art of Jon Clue, Needle's artist profile of the week, and one of the best tattooists in the US. For tattoo art without the commitment,...

(13 January 2006) - Tropolism continues to follow the story of the rebuilding master plan debate in New Orleans, along with some crazy article on 2 Columbus Circle published by the New York Times. This Week in Tropolism
(16 December 2005) - 1. We had some words about an exhibition at MoMA, and why the New York Times will call France but not Spain for interviews. 2. Audrey Kawasaki
(12 December 2005) - I was thrown this link the other night. And as I went through it, I was just astounded by how sensual and startling Audrey Kawasaki's work is. It's kinda hot and freaky so I thought I'd just share. I'm sure you're thinking "Oh great, lucky me..." But seriously, take a look for yourself. I find the looks the girls stare back at me slightly...
