North Face 3-Point Optimus Boa
(06 March 2007) - New on the flip-flop scene, the North Face 3-Point Optimus Boa features a built-in device to achieve the perfect fit. Differing from the strappy, too-fussy alternatives for securing sandals, the 3-Point Optimus maintains the flip-flop shape but uses the patented form fitting Boa system to adjust to the contours of your foot. Paula Ferber Shoes
(27 February 2007) - Looking deceptively innocent among the other fashions at Surface To Air's new São Paulo boutique, the Brazilian designer Paula Ferber's flats appear to be a girlish shoe with just the right amount of au courant glam metallics. Looking more closely, they are in fact De Sade-worthy scenes of orgies, hand-cuffs and other sex toys. For more images of the subversive shoes, go here. ...

Sole Searching
(29 January 2007) - With Louboutin's candy-apple red soles becoming as ubiquitous as Paris Hilton sightings, and Pierre Hardy's coutourtorous designs as wearable as a Jeff Koons sculpture, you know it's time for a new crop of shoes. Lesser-known labels that still pack a distinctive punch are a rare breed, but these six inspiring collections more than fit the bill. Among them are notables Miroike, Scorah Pattullo and...

Oka b
(16 January 2007) - Oka b owes its sleek, contoured design to designer Naomi Wakatake's background in sculpture and interior design. Her elegant concepts add a fashionable dose to flip-flops that are durable, tailored to fit feet well and feature a massaging foot bed. Made from Microplast—a material that's both lightweight like plastic and has the flexible, non-slip qualities of rubber—Oka b's shoes are anti-microbial and machine washable. One-piece...

United Nude Shoes
(15 December 2006) - Co-founded by the Dutch architect Rem D. Koolhaas (yes, he’s the nephew of Mr. OMA himself) and shoe-maker Galahad JD Clark, United Nude elevates the shoe to a true art form—where design, architecture and abstraction meet footwear. With an aim to create nothing less than contemporary iconic shoe design, "the products are conceptual: re-interpretations of architecture, archetypes, or existing classic objects." Like, for example, the...

John Fluevog Capones
(14 December 2006) - Renowned in the late 80s and early 90s, John Fluevog’s Art Deco-inspired footwear collection is experiencing a renaissance with their new 2006 winter line. The dandyish Capone ankle boot (pictured) features patent leather (a typically flamboyant choice of material) and a pink lining sobered by a grey colorway and classic brogue styling. The result is a fresh approach to the Canadian cobbler's tradition of...

Snakeskin Wallabees
(13 September 2006) - Aside from the occasional camo, most Wallabee colorways are subtle deviations from classic. These, made from dyed Python skin, are anything but low-key. Designed by Boston-based Soldier Design in collaboration with Tannery co-owner Tarek Hassan and Clarks Footwear they were a concept started back in 2005. Eventually 15 pair were made and they went on sale today at The Tannery in Harvard Square, Cambridge,...

Stiletto Solutions
(29 August 2006) - For many, the agony that comes with wearing heels is simply a fashion tax that stylish women have to pay. Fortunately for those who've lived with pain and blisters for too long, a new kind of thinking is on the rise. If the following innovations are any indication, the right workout and accessories are the beginnings of a stiletto revolution. You may have heard...

Keep Company
(02 May 2006) - Shoes from L.A. Based, Brooklyn-inspired Keep Company are a sexier take on the classic boat shoe. The sweetest shoe in Keep Company's new lineup was just made available online in late April, the golf-course green Benten with a white molded rubber sole. While the green style is the most old school, the cotton canvas show also comes in a light grey and yellow, natural,...

Liberty Boots
(14 November 2005) - I really had no expectation that this weekend's trip to Dallas, TX would include finding something to post to the site. I stumbled on a store in the West Village called Cowboy Cool filled with all sorts of rocker cowboy gear. These $2250 skull boots caught my attention (obviously). Handmade by Canada's Liberty Boot Company, they're apparently the brand of choice by celebrities galore....

Shoewawa
(10 December 2004) - I'm not so good about covering stuff for the ladies-- especially when it come to footwear. Fortunately there's a brand new blog from the creators of Shiny Shiny (the girl gadget guide). Shoewawa delivers a sassy report on shoes and even gets a bit in to the trainers. They even have an eBay Watch category to make your hunting easier. ...
