Cri de Coeur Shoes
(08 February 2008) - A recently-launched brand of high-fashion, vegan footwear based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Cri de Coeur was founded by longtime vegan and Parson School of Design graduate Gina Ferraraccio. Borrowing a name from a French expression which means "to cry from the heart," the (mostly) made-in-Portugal line is Ferraraccio's response to the lack of stylish shoes that are both ethically-produced and animal-friendly. Partnering with The Carbon...

(04 January 2008) - Sneaker Freaker compiled a Best of Sneakers 2007 by asking fellow designers, artists, shop owners and founders for their favorites of the year. Both classics and newbies are represented but one thing remains clear, Nike still has a firm grasp on the sneaker game. (21 November 2007) - When the forecast calls for scattered showers and you're sick of clunky Wellies, allow Swims, a line of nouveau galoshes, to step in. An homage to a pair of black galoshes passed on to the Norwegian founder, after living in style-conscious Manhattan. We discovered "Fetish" at Design Art London where these extraordinary shoes by Louboutin and their erotic photographic counterparts by Lynch were on show...

Ubiq Fall/Winter 2007
(16 October 2007) - Japanese brand Ubiq always comes up with head-turning, sometimes offbeat designs when it comes to their footwear. The latest 2007 Fall/Winter collection is no different. My favorites from the group have to be the Braska and Bernadette models. A mid-cut boot, the Braska (right) is not as clunky as most urban hiking alternatives. The most innovative feature is the gator-like fleece sock appended to...
