(02 June 2005) - About this time of year green thumb urbanites are struggling to find corners of land, or more realistically window sill space, to grow a few little herbs or vegetables. Garden in a Bag, available at Wishing Fish, makes the process a bit smoother by including all the necessary elements to grow various herbs and even some vegetables. For $8 per bag you can get...

Robotic Lawn Mower
(25 May 2005) - Have a big lawn, no staff and a few thousand extra dollars? Maybe. Or maybe you're just in to red robots. Either way, the Evolution from Robots and Relax is a fascinating robotic lawn mower and is just one in a series of automated lawn care. Starting around $1000, one of these babies would make the perfect Summer accessory for your entertainment and convenience....

Vase Deferens
(05 May 2005) - This is D3 Designs Vase Deferens, indeed a very different vase, designed by Clive Solari and David Francis. It gives any flower the freedom to sway in the wind, sitting in only 35ml of water. The design was awarded a DesignMark at the 2005 Australian Design Awards. It's more natural, allowing a flower to stand on it's own--instead of in an "overcrowded bunch." This...

Personal Data Forest
(18 March 2005) - This image is a representation of all the data right here on Cool Hunting, created using Texone's Tree Applet. You point the applet to a web address and it translates the syntactic structure of the site to a tree visualization. It also creates a Midi file so you can hear a representation of the site. While this may be more fun than useful, there's...

Jill Bliss: Native Flowers Journal
(07 March 2005) - Jill Bliss, founder of blissen, has created the Native Flowers Journal. It's a small blank journal with mostly gridded pages. As you flip through it, drawings of the local flora of the San Francisco Bay Area border the edges of the page spreads. Occasionally the neurotic grid work will disappear leaving only the flowers and the date to define the space. ...

The Gates
(12 February 2005) - 7500 steel gates with nylon flags, 16 feet tall, 23 miles long, 26 years in the making, $20 million, on view for 16 days. My first glimpse of The Gates, Jeanne-Claude and Christo's Central Park installation that opened today in New York was from the top of an apartment building on the South-East side of the park. The orange flags looked like dominoes lining...

Plant Partner
(28 December 2004) - To love plants does not necessarily mean you know how to take care of them. Dr. Frog is here to help. Just place the little guy in the soil of your plant and he'll ribbit whenever the plant needs water. He even knows when it's night time (through light sensors in his eyes) and will keep quiet so you get your sleep. via Wired...
