Photo Tiles
(17 August 2004) - Photo Form makes Bas-relief tiles from any image you send them. There are lots of great texture examples on their site, but my favorite is this one made from an arial photo. The Arizona based company uses their own patent pending Photo Cast technology to make the tiles. They can be ordered in a wide variety of finishes. After dorking out and making ones...

Twexus
(18 June 2004) - Twexus is a database of over 20,000 digital photographs taken by Andreas Wacker. There are a couple different ways to search for photos, but my favorite is a feature called pairs. All it does is randomly select two photos to display side by side. More often than not, the juxtaposition is rather compelling....

Earth Day / Human Descent
(22 April 2004) - Yes. We should all recycle more plastic, waste less water, and conserve energy resources. But that's stuff we should do every day. On Earth Day, I think we should stop to ponder how life on earth is evolving-- especially considering the increasing role technology plays in evolution. Check out the crazy digital photo art at Human Descent to get a little food for thought....

Bill Henson
(13 December 2003) - Australian photographer Bill Henson's work reminds me a lot of Lisa Kereszi's. His images are dark, but beautifully lit landscapes and protraits that both warm and disturb. "In a photograph, we have simultaneously an absolute presence in the evidential authority of the medium and an entirely impossible dreamscape." Bill Henson view selected work at Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery buy his book, Lux et Nox at...

SENT: America's First Phonecam Art Show
(26 November 2003) - Many of us see beauty in the crudeness of emerging visual technology. Cameraphone images are, at this moment in time, really distinctive. And, to me, really beautiful. I even maintain a little gallery of my own mobile phone images. SENT is an upcoming exhibition of camera phone images organized by Sean Bonner, Caryn Coleman and Xeni Jardin. The exhibition will exist both on-line and...
