Tumi Yellow Jacket
(23 September 2004) - Tumi, the bag design innovators, will be venturing in to the apparel arena this Fall. Yellow Jacket, their first product in this space will be in stores by November. It might seem strange for the bag company to get in to apparel, but it actually makes lots of sense. Tumi's products are travel related and the next evolution in traveling light might just be...
Diamond Crusted iPod
(30 August 2004) - Last night, following the MTV Video Music Awards, P.Diddy hosted a HP sponsored after party. HP gave out lots of the new iPods, but P.Diddy got the one-of-a-kind-exclusive. Engadget hooked up the photos of the blingPod, which has an obnoxious HP logo made from over 120 diamonds. I can't honestly say I like this thing, but it's still outrageous enough to be post worthy....
Glow in the Dark iPod Wheel
(24 August 2004) - Lumitector makes iPod scroll wheel covers. Certainly more novelty than utility, the most fun model glows in the dark. It's a fun and easy little mod for those of you who are bored with the plain old pod. And it's available for the 4th Generation model as well. $9.00 at Lumitector via Gizmodo...
iPod Slider
(24 June 2004) - This concept iPod design from Knutmo via Gizmodo is my favorite so far. The slider makes the device nice and compact while protecting the screen. This, to me, would be an elegant evolution-- not something overly complicated. Here are a bunch of other concept iPod designs....
1984 redux
(06 January 2004) - Today Steve Jobs gave the keynote at Macworld 2004 in San Francisco. The iPod mini is very exciting, as is iLife 4. The most exciting thing of the day for me, however, was the little remake of the original Apple Macintosh ad from 1984. My favorite TV commercial of all time has been subtly enhanced by including an iPod. It has been 20 years...
Apple Store Tokyo
(06 December 2003) - Steve Trautlein, for metropolis.japantoday.com, reports on the gorgeous new Apple Store in Tokyo. By opening their five-story Ginza branch in a can't-miss location across the street from fabled depato Matsuya, Apple looks to build on the success of its US-based stores by importing that same formula into Tokyo. Tech gurus, artists, architects and musicians will all be on hand in the coming weeks to...
New Burton iPod Gear
(03 November 2003) - update: January 4, 2004 I finally found a Burton Amp backpack at Paragon in NYC. So far, so good. Aside from the obvious benefits, it has the right number of pockets, high quality manufacturing, and a sleek design. Let's see how it does when put to task on the streets of NYC... --------------- Burton has released the rumored Amp Pack backpack and three new...
New iPod
(28 April 2003) - It doesn't take much hunting today to find the news of Apple's new iPods. They are smaller and lighter with more storage space (15 and 30 GB). There's a new dock. And they, as well as the older versions, integrate seamlessly with the new music download service offered via the iTunes upgrade. The new version of iTunes also includes Rendezvous based music sharing. That...
iPurse
(12 April 2003) - iPurse may have been inspired by the cool beach bag with speakers from Loop Design, but takes it a step further by giving you access to your iPod's controls. Pretty cool....
Burton Amp
(12 February 2003) - A little while back Burton and Apple announced the Amp, which is a snowboarding jacket with a special pocket for your iPod and controls on the sleeve. If they had only put some speakers in the hood, it would be perfect!...
