By adding words as leaves you collaborate to nurture a virtual tree. As the virtual tree grows, NEC will plant real trees on Kangaroo Island in Australia. Over 600 trees have been planted so far. ...

Earth Day / Human Descent
(22 April 2004) - Yes. We should all recycle more plastic, waste less water, and conserve energy resources. But that's stuff we should do every day. On Earth Day, I think we should stop to ponder how life on earth is evolving-- especially considering the increasing role technology plays in evolution. Toyota Volta
(11 March 2004) - Finally. A good looking hybrid. Fabrizio Giugiaro, son of famed automotive designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, joined Toyota to launch the Volta in Geneva earlier this month. The hybrid sports car is named for physicist Alessandro Volta who invented the battery. An appropriate honor considering the car's use of both battery and gas in order to be more efficient. review at auto123.com...

Participants can drop off their handset at one of several participating shops, or they can mail it to Fonebak directly. The device is then dismantled and whatever bits aren't eligible for recycling are incinerated using a 0 emissions process. Energy from the incineration contributes to the supply of the nearby town....
