New American City: Sycamore Farms
(21 April 2006) - When artist and fourth generation farmer Matthew Moore found that farmland his family sold outside of Pheonix, Arizona was slated for a housing development, he decided to protest. Instead of picket signs, Moore took to the land, and recreated the subdivision in crops on neighboring property. He calls the earthwork "Sycamore Farms." Complete with houses represented by sorghum and Black bearded wheat-paved streets, Moore's...

Jill Greenberg: End Times
(03 April 2006) - Many of the photographers represented by Paul Kopeikin Gallery in Los Angeles are defining photography’s emergent stylistic tendencies. In two years, magazines will be filled with celebrity portraits aping Jill Greenberg’s techniques. It will take two years to purge the photos of screaming children from her upcoming exhibition, End Times, from your head. The artist uses the wailing distress of the children as an...

Let's Share at Giant Robot SF
(03 November 2005) - Giant Robot SF's new show, Let's Share, features work by Evah Fan, Jack Long and Susie Ghahremani. From the subconscious to childhood memories to irreverent thoughts on society today, each of these artists communicates through the filter of their distinct influences. We're particularly into Evah's quirky designs. They have a hint of Edward Gorey's mischevious, storytelling drawings. The show opens on November 19th and...

Sporting Green: RECYCL'art
(30 August 2005) - Recycling cell phones is as easy as finding a designated drop box in one of hundreds of Whole Foods stores nationwide, but when it comes to athletic gear, re-use options are much more limited.
