(12 October 2006) - Earlier today at Digitallife Palm announced the much anticipated Treo 680. We got our hands on one and are happy to report it's a great improvement over the 650. The device is smaller in all dimensions. The screen is brighter and more crisp, the SD card slot is moved to a better location and the antenna is now internal so there's not annoying nub....

Clothing That Arranges the Body
(10 October 2006) - Clothing That Arranges the Body is British industrial designer Hannah Perner-Wilson's attempt to reconcile with our attachments to gadgets, calling attention to the way our minds and bodies relate to electronic devices. "I find myself drawn towards the ways in which objects, whether of material nature or data, convey their content," she says. In this first prototype jacket, Hannah created five pockets for gadgets...

Latest from Nokia
(27 September 2006) - Yesterday was a big day for Nokia at their Open Studio event—eight new products, an indy store driven Music Recommenders service, David Bowie appearance, Gnarles Barkley concert, Om Malik panel discussion and a tricked out Mustang alongside a smoothie stand. All of this grounded by their new(ish) message that they make "multimedia computers with telephony capability" as opposed to mobile phones that do lots...

This is is a slightly different version of the device which supports certain North American frequencies. You'll also notice the black keyboard. Otherwise, as far as I know, it's the same E70. No, it's not...

Griffin iKaraoke
(14 September 2006) - Though likely already in the works before the mini-scandal back in April prompted by Apple's corporate form letter reply to a Northern California 3rd-grader who suggested a karaoke feature for iPods, Griffin's upcoming iKaraoke accessory should at least be validating for the young correspondent. Due out this coming Winter, the new microphone-based device plugs directly into iPod's universal dock, transmitting instrumentals and backup vocals...

Nokia E70: Hands On
(18 July 2006) - It took a week, but I'm now in love with my Nokia E70. I have always been a fan of the butterfly form-factor, but out of the box the new version of Nokia's S60 software felt as convoluted as Windows. After reconfiguring the menus, installing some great applications, finding an acceptable theme and getting it to sync with my MacBook Pro, I feel all...

Royal College of Art Summer Show 2006
(06 July 2006) - Having spent weeks talking to students and looking at the annual Royal College of Art degree show, Exhibit-K, a London-based art tour service, came up with five hot design picks exclusively for Cool Hunting. Doodle Dudes Andrew Haythornthwaite's Doodle Dudes gives the characters that children create in their drawings a 3-d life by using rapid prototyping to print their drawings in 3 dimensions. Hulgerisation
(27 June 2006) - Hulger approached St. Martin's design students about applying their thinking towards technology on a variety of products. While some of it falls into the "Design Student" vortex, some of it's actually pretty interesting. My favorites were the wind-up lamp and Ben Raemer's Crop Camera (pictured), which makes the photoshop tool into a physical camera allowing infinite aspect adjustment. View them all at Hulgerisation. Previously...

Nokia Flagship Store in Chicago
(23 June 2006) - Nokia's second flagship store opens on Chicago's chic Magnificent Mile tomorrow, 24 June 2006 (the first is in Moscow). One has to wonder whether this premier U.S. location is strategically or coincidentally placed in Motorola's home town, just blocks from the Moto design studio and across the street from Moto's Destination Q store. With an objective of education and experience over sales, the flagships...
