The Plumen Project: Hulger

by Tim Yu in Design on 21 November 2007

When it comes to the lightbulb we've been left with an egg shaped bulb since it's invention. More recently we are seeing the ice cream whip shape of compact fluorescents, but for the iconic symbol of an idea it lacks any innovation. Hulger is determined to change this.

Taking advantage of the tubular characterisitc of the compact fluorescent, Hulger recently initiated the Plumen Project, which twists some imagination into the lightbulb. Proposing sculptural renditions, Hulger creates stylized configurations that you won't want to cover with a lampshade. Only in prototype stage, Hulger is currently looking to talk with manufacturers to push these sculptural bulbs into production. Visit the Plumen Project for more info.
