As longtime attendees of Iceland's DesignMarch, we're familiar with the wonderful textile work of Reykjavik-based Scintilla, a homeware brand founded by fashion and textile designer Linda Björg Árnadóttir. Last year, we were introduced to her organic towels. This past week the line extend to candles. With three scents inspired by the rugged landscape of Árnadóttir's native country, the modest range is made exclusively from essential oils and pure, natural paraffin-free wax, centered around a lead-free wick, delivering up to 60 hours of burn time.
Drawing on the remote Westfjords, the organic and certified vegan candles were developed with the help of a third generation scent designer after spending time in the isolated region with Árnadóttir. The landscape-inspired candles offer a nice alternative to many fancy candles found stateside. Visit Scintilla online where the candle range sells for 7,900kr (roughly $70). Be sure to browse the organic linens while there as well.
