Emily Pilloton's forthcoming book, "Design Revolution: 100 Products That Empower People" drives home the notion that, while going green benefits the environment, the real way to save the planet and ourselves goes beyond just designing biodegradable products and instead involves creating tools for changing the world.

Pilloton, former Inhabitat editor who at 26 founded the socially-conscious design firm Project H last year, challenges designers to think of themselves as design activists and not just creators of "stuff."

To illustrate her point and prove that products can enable people, "Design Revolution" showcases 100 of the world's most ingenious creations that will improve the quality of life in both developed and undeveloped nations.


Products span all-terrain wheelchairs, waterless washing machines, safer baby bottles, efficient water transporting systems—to name just a few of the smartly-designed and beautifully-executed concepts she includes.
