CH Omakase 2017: Artist Danner Milliken USB Keys

Tiny, colorful vaults of digital art that are works of art themselves

When a USB key is actually a work of art, and features more art saved within, there’s even more reason not to lose it. New media artist Danner Milliken, who we met by way of Instagram, outfitted USB keys with his signature retro tech aesthetic and modern abstract forms. These USB keys—which also work as a paper clip—also hold seven pieces from his Square series—a body of work that he made exclusively for Omakase. “My ▢ [square] series comes from me extracting small squares that consist of hidden engaging compositions,” Milliken explains to CH, “These squares are derived from certain shapes I pick from a technique I do to begin with on my program.” The program he references is one step in his art, which is developed through several proprietary techniques. All of Milliken’s digital works are limited and licensed. The result is clearly something exuberant.

CH Omakase is a collection of never seen before, pre-release and collaboratively designed gifts delivered in time for a holiday surprise. You can see our collection from this past season here.
