As her bio suggests, New Zealand artist Sofia Minson's "massive, emotionally charged oil paintings of faces, bodies and landscapes are inspired by her Maori ancestry and her respect for the land and mythology of Aotearoa (New Zealand). Having lived in Samoa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and China, her bold, yet soft and finely detailed work also celebrates the richness of cultural diversity. Graduating with an arts degree in 2005, Sofia has since won two national art awards, exhibited in Italy and extensively throughout her home country, and featured on national TV and in numerous publications." She will be exhibiting some of her work at NYC's Agora Gallery as part of an Australian and New Zealand art exhibition in May.
