Fashion illustrator Blue Logan recently joined forces with Moda Operandi to create a set of limited edition, punk-inspired playing cards in celebration of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's "PUNK: Chaos to Couture" exhibition opening this Thursday in NYC.

The Moda Operandi-sponsored exhibition features all aspects of punk fashion, from DIY looks to those by legends Malcolm McClaren and Dame Vivienne Westwood, plus designs from Martin Margiela, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Helmut Lang, Alexander McQueen and more.

Punk's irrefutable and long-lasting influence on fashion of all kinds is evident in both the exhibition and these playing cards, which perfectly balance high-fashion with the grittier appeal of the sub-culture. The collaboration came about when Logan met Taylor Tomasi Hill of Moda Operandi in London. Says Logan, "I had recently done a card for Vogue and then done a exhibition of playing card paintings. I always wanted to make a real deck because I had used the format and Taylor must have thought so too and remembered pretty well, thankfully."

The cards include looks by Westwood, Givenchy and Balmain, plus key pieces from Moda Operandi's impressive punk collection. "I think cards are a really satisfying object. The format is steeped in history and designing them was fun," explains Logan. "I found out a lot about cards—irregularities and meanings, which I tried to include a hint of in my set."

And the most punk game to play? According to Logan, it's Snap. "Oh, Snap. For sure. I know there's a game of Shit Head, though. That does have more of a punky ring to it."

The limited run is made up of just 300 packs that are hand numbered by Logan, and are selling exclusively from Moda Operandi for $100.

"PUNK: Chaos to Couture" is open 9 May through 14 August 2013 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Check out the cards and more CBGB-inspired goods online from Moda Operandi's dedicated punk shop.
