Laurice Parkin
For most of her professional life, Laurice has been a style journalist, most notably at Vogue Magazine and the NY Daily News. Her love of modern design led her to explore other creative projects including opening Swank 20th Century Modern, a retail space focused on vintage mid-century design in the East Village (r.i.p. 2001) and co-founding the award-winning design studio, 521 Design. A writer, researcher, photographer, techie and design geek, she dabbles in all and might settle on one as a career someday. Although she has a great fondness for road trips, Laurice is also a fan of her home base in Brooklyn where she is sometimes seen with an ornery French Bulldog.

Ayala's Herbal Water, one of the newest entries into the trend of water reinvention, is refreshingly tasty. While flavor combos like "lavender mint lemongrass thyme," "cinnamon orange peel" and "ginger lemon peel" might sound like an overpowering infusion, the effect is subtle, mellow and...

Charles and Ray Eames Commemorative Stamps
As an unabashedly extreme fangirl of all things Eames, I am happy to say that the U.S. Postal Service is also feeling some Eames love this month. This week they have issued a hotly-anticipated set of 16 commemorative stamps honoring the iconic husband and wife design team whose work continues to be the standard against which all modern is measured. Through architecture, furniture and...
