Moto-à-Porter
(24 January 2007) - For the next week you can see my finds on Moto-à-Porter, a "super blog" covering São Paulo's Fashion Week. Created by the creative team ag407 for Motorola, the site is part of the lounge they've set up (pictured) and Moto-à-Porter is already full of posts by the cast of 12 Brazilian bloggers and four international bloggers (Cool Hunting, Face Hunter, Trendwatching and World Changing)....

MOG
(07 June 2006) - As social networking sites become bigger and bigger people have a harder time finding new friends or meaningful stuff to share. As a result there is an increasing number of niche or topic focused sites coming on to the scene. The latest, MOG, is music focused and includes obvious but useful features like favorite artist this month or most recently played track. But what...

Milieu
(02 March 2006) - With so much music being released that's freely available on the internet, it's a little daunting to try and sift through to find the diamonds. But British blogger Alex Young is a gifted electronica aficionado that does just that. His site, Milieu, is the most basic concept, but Young's taste and knowledge of the genre provides an invaluable service. He doesn't limit himself to...

I Heart Switch
(27 February 2006) - I Heart Switch may be a work in progress, but here's a chance to get in on the ground floor. Basically what we have here is a DIY show in which our host Alison demonstrates how to assemble all kinds of groovy knicknacks. It's not terribly difficult stuff, but it requires some degree of competence. Imagine a baking show with some basic soldering skills...

Flavorpill Sundance
(24 January 2006) - Describing Flavorpill Sundance, a blog devoted to the happenings of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, one is tempted to say it’s all over that indiefest like a cheap suit. But that would be wrong. Flavorpill isn’t a cheap suit, it’s much more urbane than any draped piece of polyester. With its team of dozens of editors, reporters, and stringers, digging down...

SMITH Magazine
(23 January 2006) - The hyperbolically-titled "bloggers revolution" has changed publishing. Virtually free to publish, the internet phenomenon has created digital publishing, a medium that is simultaneously wholly democratic yet often schizophrenic. Now there's a mag that's unabashedly harnessing the infinite pool of online writing talent into one monthly publication. SMITH Magazine, launched earlier this month, seems to operate on the age-old adage that "everyone has a story...

2006 Bloggie Nominations Begin
(06 January 2006) - Nominations for the 6th annual Bloggies began today and, well, Cool Hunting's a blog! Obviously, we fit the American, Group, and, ahem, Best of the Year, among others, but our just-launched Cool Hunting Podcast is already rated #13 in Arts and Entertainment at iTunes and makes us happy to be a contender in that category as well. Vote here....

This Week in Tropolism
(06 January 2006) - This week, Tropolism points the way to two news items about rebuilding New Orleans, reviews the new blog Do You Want Some Coffee? now that it's hit critical mass (three months), and sends along an interview of Artist-itect Jon Kher Kaw....

To Darrin Hudson, From Jeff Staple
(06 January 2006) - Jeff Staple is the creative force behind Staple Design and The Reed Space, both of which marry urban culture and fantastic design. One of his strongest focal points is footwear, Sneakers specifically. On his new blog, To Darrin Hudson, Jeff is cataloging (and selling) his shoe collection one-by-one-- not just for the sake of doing it, but also as the ultimate one-up to his...

Charles and Marie: Soupe Du Jour
(28 November 2005) - We don't know Charles and Marie personally, but judging by their site I think we'd all have plenty to talk about. In addition to their series of blogs, they have just launched Soupe Du Jour-- an on-line shop with something new every day and only available that day. Today there's a mystical keychain from Brazil, tomorrow the sexiest toothbrush on earth and Wednesday an...

OZOcar
(28 October 2005) - Yesterday we read about OZOcar over at Charles and Marie and loved the idea so we decided to give them a shot for this morning's trip to the airport (en route to Seattle). With a fleet of 30 hybrid vehicles, OZOcar is New York's first eco-luxury car service. We were picked up in a clean and comfy Prius by a polite, professional driver. In...

Cassette Jam 05
(24 October 2005) - When was the last time you labored through making a mix tape? I think I made my last one in 1997. The cassette tape is pretty foreign these days, but still hugely nostalgic. Cassette Jam 05 is a collection of photos of over 180 different blank cassettes created by Japanese blogger Not Wild Style. via rchinn at protein ...

Nike iD Blogger Contest
(20 May 2005) - It's hard not to see an advert for Nike's relaunched iD customization service. They're really blowing out the promotion, and with good reason-- the new version of the site is fast, simple, elegant and fun (rock on RGA!). Then, of course, is the fact that you can customize your shoes to fit your specific taste. Among the more intriguing promotions they're running are the...

Joris Laarman
(18 April 2005) - Though his work made the rounds on design blogs last year, we somehow missed it until now. Joris Laarman is a young Dutch designer with a great sense of style. We like it when designers challenge convention, as Joris has done with his designs for radiators that become part of the room's decor, or with his polyster concrete climbing wall "ivy" that can be...

365 Days of Photography
(21 March 2005) - Miskan--except it's photography based. Photo-blogging is getting bigger and bigger, but making the commitment to really do a photo a day is different. All the photos are from the eyes of a Lebanese Junior Art Director at a local ad agency in Kuwait. The aim of the project is simple, learn more about Kuwait and increase his creativity--while producing some really great work along...

Back to the Basics: Calculators
(10 January 2005) - CES was certainly a fascinating experience. Just when I thought I had seen everything I passed this display of, well, calculators. Thank goodness there was still room and respect for some of the most basic of gadgets. I have a few more things to share and promise to post them up today. If you're looking for an inventory of all the latest and greatest...

Shoewawa
(10 December 2004) - I'm not so good about covering stuff for the ladies-- especially when it come to footwear. Fortunately there's a brand new blog from the creators of Shiny Shiny (the girl gadget guide). Shoewawa delivers a sassy report on shoes and even gets a bit in to the trainers. They even have an eBay Watch category to make your hunting easier. ...
