Cool Hunting
Opening at San Diego's Joseph Bellows Gallery this week, landscape photographer Michael Light's tightly-edited collection of 129 of the 32,000 images shot during the mission to the moon commemorate the 40th anniversary of the event.
A literally unworldly visual narrative of these lunar missions, Light focuses on rarely-seen images, showcasing the beautiful aesthetic of the spacewalk, lunar lander and the blue orb that we call home.
The body of work comes from the San Francisco-based artist's project completed between 1995 and 2000, when he worked with NASA to go through their archives. Using the latest direct digital photographic printing processes, Light created stunningly-detailed prints of the images captured by that small band of astronauts who defied death on the six missions between 1963 and 1972.
