Cool Hunting
We're looking for smart, motivated interns and contributors to join the CH team. If you have a passion for design, culture and technology, we have openings in the editorial, design and publishing departments. Interns will need to be NYC-based and able to commit to 20 hours weekly. Our dynamic (and fun) work environment offers a range of opportunities where the right person will thrive and gain invaluable experience.
Contributors can be located worldwide, but we're specifically looking for people in China, Berlin, Spain, India, Japan, Canada, San Francisco, New Zealand and Stockholm. See job descriptions and how to apply after the jump.
Qualifications (for all intern positions):
• Excellent writing skills
• Great sense of personal style and a love and enthusiasm for art, design, fashion, food or music
• Independent work ethos
• Attentive to detail and able to prioritize multiple projects
• Skilled online researcher (advanced knowledge a plus)
• Fluent with a Mac platform and common software such as Photoshop
• Basic knowledge of html
• College degree or enrollment in appropriate field
• Experience in publishing and/or online media preferred but not necessary
• Recent college grads are more than welcome
Editorial Intern
Editorial duties include researching, fact checking, developing, proofreading and writing stories and light administrative work. Also, the intern will be responsible for sourcing, calling in and tracking products and samples and communicating with reps. This person will work primarily with the managing editor, but will also assist other editors as needed. We’re looking for someone who feels as comfortable liaising with designers as they do writing under daily deadlines and who is eager to take on and own new projects.
Publishing Intern
The publishing intern will assist in all aspects of ad sales, sponsorships, marketing and other promotional opportunities. Working with the publishing associate and the director of Largetail (our ad network), this position will involve developing new ideas and strategy, writing, editing and laying out proposals, liasing with clients and light administrative duties. Ideal candidates will be beyond Internet-savvy and brimming with creative approaches to online advertising.
Design Intern
Design interns will work with both the editorial and publishing departments to ensure the visual effectiveness of the site and marketing materials. Responsibilities will include layout of editorial features and articles, custom graphics and conceptualizing new functionality and design. Familiarity with basic platforms such as Illustrator and Photoshop are a must. Some knowledge of graphic production is ideal.
Contributors
We ask that writers commit to posting regularly (weekly, monthly or some other schedule). We also run a couple of trial posts before becoming an official contributor. We're looking for stories that have international relevance, though they certainly can originate in your locale. Please include 3-5 story ideas in your application.
To apply, follow the contact link at the bottom of the page, select "Apply to CH" from the pull-down menu, and send a cover letter and resume.
