Cool Hunting

After the success of last year's Insound 20, the indie music retailer hits us again with another run of exclusive band designs. While the former collection envisioned new designs for contemporary groups, Insound 10 Classic features 10 seminal punk, new wave or indie bands, all active between 1977 and 1997 and many of which are now defunct.
This year's designer is Mike Perry, who makes books, clothing, painting, illustration and more out of his Brooklyn studio. His designs have appeared in the New York Time Magazine, Dwell Magazine and Urban Outfitters, to name a few, and the illustrations and hand-lettering he contributed give an offhanded sensibility to some of the most revered bands of the late 20th century.
The current crop of bands includes Richard Hell & the Voidoids, the Feelies, Galaxie 500, Beat Happening, Sleater-Kinney, the Magnetic Fields, Sunny Day Real Estate, the Promise Ring, the Olivia Tremor Control and the Apples in Stereo. Each unique design can be purchased as numbered, silk-screened posters for $30, as well as American Apparel t-shirts ($22) and cotton totes ($18). Each item is limited, the posters to just 100 units. Check out the Insound 10 Classic site for more info.
