Cool Hunting
Coined the "survival suit," Helly Hansen's Ocean Racing Suit offers little for average Joes whose biggest challenge is a case of the Mondays, but it will protect the brave—if not a bit insane—sailors as they race around the world, facing extreme weather conditions and dangerous speeds.
A pivotal part of the off-shore racing circuit for the past 30 years, Helly Hansen's survival suit is currently keeping the Ericsson team ahead of the game and first to port in this year's Volvo Ocean Race. Their adept understanding of a seafarer's needs is the result of testing the suit over thousands of days at sea and constructing the suit in-house at Helly Hansen's HQ in Moss, Norway.
The full-stretch suit is geared for the utmost sailor, but for those interested in staying dry and warm on smaller excursions Helly Hansen's line of Ocean Racing jackets, tops and pants offers the same professional quality and many of the same features as the survival suit.
The Ocean Racing Suit is available for purchase online for $3,000.
See more images of the suit in action after the jump.

Putting a retro spin on a new board, K2 teamed up with Original Penguin to create a classic look for their all terrain, high performance Slayblade snowboard. The interlocking pattern adorning both sides of the Slayblade is a mix of Penguin's signature plaids...
A city usually associated with frosty beer and weather, Montréal shows off their summer side with a surf spot on the St. Lawrence River. Hidden behind the prestigious Habitat 67—a Moshe Safdie apartment building infamous for its Expo 67 debut and infinite occupancy waiting list—the location may sound tame. One look at the wetsuit-clad surfers navigating the surf proves that the river's current can...

Recently coming across the smart skiwear made by Mover, I realized how completely deprived I was of snow this season—which is what's great about the brand. Their classically chic designs work just as well in city streets as they do on alpine slopes, making for a perfect compromise. Pairing an old-school aesthetic with futuristic techniques, Swedish (though Switzerland-based) label takes wool—one of the oldest...
Cycling attire usually falls in one of two camps: triathlon spandex or rudimentary messenger cut-offs. To fill the void of bicycle apparel that's as stylish as it is utilitarian comes swrve, a small Los Angeles-based company. Their collection of reasonably-priced, American-made clothing has everything from classic wool riding caps to light-weight, water-repellent riding knickers—all constructed with a discerning eye for a contemporary aesthetic. A...
