Eelko Moorer: Jungle Vase by Brian Fichtner
Dutch 34-year-old designer Eelko Moorer best known for his urethane bearskin rug, continues to create provocative work, as evidenced by his latest design the Jungle Vase. A urethane vessel covered in a full head of silicone hairs and created using rotational molding, the vase comes in two hair lengths, 100 cm or 50 cm (click above for expanded views). The longer version allows users to hang the vessel from a variety of objects, lending it the appearance of a jungle air plant wrapped round the branch of a tree.

Mixko Alexander Vases
Fresh from the studio of those cut-up British designers Mixko, these ceramic vases take on the unexpected form of human knees and elbows. We like how the "Michaelangelo meets Dexter" vessel's organic contours are subtle enough to pass for an abstract objet. Both versions are £100 and available now from DA in Moscow and from Mixko's online store later this month. Also on Cool Hunting: Salone...

Bottoms Up Doorbell
A winner of a Red Dot award last year, Peter van der Jagt's Bottoms Up Doorbell is perhaps one of the best examples of repurposed objects we've come across. It's no surprise that it comes from the fertile Dutch collective that is Droog, circa 1994. A magnet (which adds bonus points for its exposed wiring) between two different sized crystal wineglasses creates the classic...

Created by industrial designer Mathieu Lehanneur and Harvard professor David Edwards in 2007, Andrea was one of several concepts by the designer to be featured in MoMA's critically-acclaimed exhibition, Design and the Elastic...

The unique design requires a six-part mold and seventeen cuts and is hand finished. There are eleven areas for planting and the largest one on the top is long enough for deep-rooting plants. The Nature planter (18" tall and 22" wide) comes in white, yellow and grey...

Sèvres Vase Clock
The Sèvres Vase Clock, a prototype by Georgios Maridakis, indicates the hour with an audible knock. Just place the vase of your choice on the brass and wood stand and the hammer will strike the vase each hour. Each vase makes a different sound, but adding different amounts of water for different pitches and notes takes it one step further. The modern take on...
