Cool Hunting

We're gearing up for our own little shop at the Brooklyn Flea next weekend as part of the series of "curated corners" the organizers put together and we thought we'd give you a sneak peek at some of the products we'll be peddling. What's more, Kiel Mead is not only providing his quirky designs like the Birdie light and accessories shown above, but the NYC-based artist is lending his hand with the construction of our booth.

From the range of talented designers and artists at Tokyo Art Beat, we just got a box of tees with graphics that are always intriguing and fresh (above left). Also on the Japanese front, we have an assortment of Zillion's awesome collection of belts, shoelaces and hats made from the traditional fabric of kimonos (above right).

Brooklyn-based industrial designer Sergio Silva offers up his cinder block-as-furniture adaptation in wood, while Peter Pracilio puts forward a classy dog crate.

Manhattan design studio Rich, Brilliant, Willing is representing with some of their furniture and their fun take on a birthday candle.

Kyle Cunniff's unique Droop Lamps will light up the corner, each one different than the other and adorned with brightly colored shades. Another cleverly distorted item is Matthew Bradshaw's Cue Bench, which would look great in any urban home.

Keeping industry alive in Brooklyn are the Mast Brothers, whose "toe-curling" chocolate will also have your mouth watering, and Joel Bukiewicz, who makes one-off knives that he cuts and sands to perfection (watch the CH video for proof).
So come out, say hi and shop with CH at the flea next Saturday and Sunday, 14-15 March 2009. This is a rare opportunity to pick up incredible products from the people we love to write about.

This past weekend we all had a lot of fun playing store at the Winter Market in Dumbo as part of the series of "Curated Corners" masterminded by the event's impresario, Eric Demby. He gave us free reign with the space so we called in the industrious Kiel Mead, who came up with an ingenious installation using a humble material (yarn) to create what...
We're less then 24 hours away from our debut at the Brooklyn Flea and we're super excited about how it's shaping up. We've have a few new items to share since our last post that we thought you might also enjoy. Warm weather is on the horizon but fluctuating temperatures still leave us reaching for our Freehands, those awesome gloves that keep your fingers...
The Brooklyn Flea, Fort Greene's arts, crafts and antiques bazaar, has gone indoors and upscale during these winter months. Their new location in DUMBO is the ideal spot for the revamped market, which is set to be less flea and more quality antiques and collectibles, like Eames chairs, French '68 protest posters, old phonographs and iron clocks from Ansonia. In addition to classic furniture and...
French label Aprill 77 emphasizes high quality construction and fabrics and in their first year they have already made an impact on the denim scene. A standout from their upcoming Fall/Winter 2009 line is their Japanese selvedge stretch denim pant and jacket. It's the first we've heard of stretch selvedge denim. There are only two factories in the world that can produce this type...
All's set for the first annual Brooklyn Bike Jumble, New York's first and only bicycle flea market, this weekend. And, weather permitting, it looks to be the perfect stopover during a weekend ride around the city or to score a new ride. The Jumble aims to connect local vendors and artisanal producers of handmade bikes, clothing and accessories with the community in a fun and...
From a group of New York-centric, apocalyptic outlaws comes Des Kiraz Volume One—a range of limited edition tees created in collaboration with seriously talented science fiction artists and the aforementioned group of bandits known as the Deth Killers 2000. Rising from the ashes of the now defunct Innercity Raiders vs. Deth Killers of Bushwick label, Deth Killers 2000 continues the fine tailoring legacy with...
