Cool Hunting
Great for someone who doesn't want to spend endless hours designing layout but wants it to look professional, Blurb is one of the most versatile new-ish websites for creating albums and books. Whether it's a cookbook, photo album, portfolio or a novel, they can do it all.
Unlike most other sites, Blurb gives you the option to sell your book on the web or keep it private. The site also provides many book and layout ideas to get your creative juices flowing, unlike iPhoto which only has a few boring templates. Another plus, it's both Mac and PC-friendly.
For anyone looking to create a book, Blurb should be your first stop. Be sure to check out their Blurb Book Ideas for some inspiration, and if it's something important you now have the option of using their new premium paper. Books start at $13.

There's no clear thread running through their diverse catalog — Wave, instead, describes its aim as "publishing the best in American poetry by new and...

Tile Toy and Flexicomb are just a couple of the fascinating things we found out about through TM and we're looking forward to the book both as brain candy and as a resource for more. There will be over 200 items not previously shared and...
New from the ladies at Cake, a book that (in the same vein as their events and website) is a frank, sex-positive take on sexuality for the modern woman. Enclosed in a red faux-velvet cover, the guide dishes advice, history, and opinion on topics like body image, masturbation, threesomes, and casual sex. Features include interspersed first-person fantasies, Cake-endorsed products, films, and books, and pleasure...
The design duo of Todd St. John and Gary Benzel who go by the name Green Lady, celebrate 10 years in the business with a new book published by Arkitip. Also the force behind HunterGatherer - a cross-disciplinary counterpart - the two have been responsible for MTV interstitials, animation and press kit design for Nike Considered (covered here), and have emblazoned wallets and skateboards...
Grafuck a new book published by newly formed husband-and-wife design team me, me (Fiel Valdez and Peter Vattanatham) is the latest offering of something other than the platform stiletto and waxed chest versions of sexy pictures. Valdez and Vattanatham tasked a mix of international artists and designers with making imagery based on what many people still consider verboten and the upshot is a volume...
The multi-format publication Visionaire, one of our perennial favorites, has teamed up with Distributed Art Publishers to create an ambitious bookstore with an expiration date. ARTBOOK AT VISIONAIRE will carry rare books from the fields of art and design in its New York showroom, but only until September 8, when its doors shut for good. Its inaugural event was a signing by Tina Barney...
