Sfera Kid's Poncho by Karen Day

We wanted to add this to our 2008 gift guide but regrettably even with the help of Google Translate we still couldn't figure out how to purchase this adorable kiddy poncho. (We're adding "learn Japanese" to the CH 2009 New Years Resolutions). Made by design group Sfera and handwoven in Finland, this is by the far the cuddliest little poncho we've seen made completely of mohair. If you take the initiative to track one down be sure to include the matching cap and mittens.

Rödel Latin America
Helen Rödel is positively masterful at knitwear. The crocheted dresses made under her signature Rödel Latin America line are carefully constructed by hand, with no help or finishes done by a sewing machine whatsoever. This obvious dedication to quality that is only surpassed by the design of the dresses themselves is what makes her one of the most promising underground designers in Brazil I've...

Sandra Backlund: Sculptural Knits SS09
The most astonishing collection we saw at London Fashion Week back in September was "Pool Position" by Swedish designer Sandra Backlund. Since then we've been eagerly awaiting some images of these radically sculptural knits to share with you. Now these photographs by John Scarisbrick have arrived we are reminded of the fantastical structures that stopped us in our tracks a few months ago. Backlund...

Pencil Scarf
With nostalgic grade-school appeal, this cheeky Pencil Scarf from U.K.-based label Lazy Oaf is both in step with persistent surrealist trends in more haute fashion circles (like Marc Jacob's infamous deconstructed shoes last season) and with decidedly more lowbrow circles, like the Bacon Scarf. Sure to elicit smiles on the subway or on the street, the pencil's smirk and splash of pink eraser make...

Context x Kicking Mule 1980 Hand Dye Jeans
An exclusive first look, Context drops another collabo today, this time with Kicking Mule Workshop for an ultra limited-edition pair of denim pants. A small production of only 50 pairs worldwide, the shuttle-loomed denim leaves a clean white selvage line—but the dying process is what really sets them apart. To make the dye, harvests of the indigo leaves from the Okayama Prefecture in Japan...

Cool Hunting Video Presents: Nice Collective
Fashion label Nice Collective was started by self-described "nice guys" Joe Haller and Ian Hannula shortly after the two met at a club in San Francisco in 1995. Inspired by music, art, technology, performance, reptiles and spiders, science, Ian's military experience and the San Francisco scene, the two set out to create experiences for themselves and their friends. Clothing quickly materialized as a core...
