Timberland Abington Collection by Tim Yu

With the winter season just around the corner, last night's debut of Timberland's new line of boots aptly named the Abington Collection — Timberland was originally named The Abington Shoe Company — at Alife Rivington Club comes just in time. The three new models are all cut from the famous leathers of Horween Leather Company out of Chicago, who've been in business for more than 100 years.

The Abington Hiker (top), Roll-Top (middle) and Cupsole (below) all meet the standards set by the original Timberland Waterproof boot using only exceptional and durable leathers along with the trusted Vibram outsole for traction and ruggedness. The Hiker is a classic hiking boot silhouette with hinged lace holes, a thick sole and high ankle support ($180). The Roll-top ($160) is a versatile boot with a twist. The fold down upper serves as a medium high-top but can be flipped up for added stability and support. I also like the aggressive look of the toothy sole. The most urban-friendly of the bunch has to be the Cupsole, a smooth looking boot incorporating both leather and suede with two tone laces ($100).

Designed by Timberland but available exclusively at the Rivington Club beginning this Saturday, 4 October 2008, you'll have to move quick. The Abington collection will also be available at premium retailers elsewhere beginning 11 October 2008.

Generic Man Fall 08
Here's a little peek of what's to come from The Generic Man this fall courtesy of Arktip. The upcoming line looks as if it's made from recycled clothing—most likely Boy Scout or military clothing. There's not much information on this yet, but the recycled cotton outer adds a casual, rough-hewn look. Dark brown laces contrasted with tan is always complimentary and the plaid inner...
Keen Ventura Canvas
Dubbed "Hybrid Footwear," Keen's shoe line has a clear emphasis on sustainability. The Ventura Canvas reflects this philosophy, while maintaining a classic, casual sneaker design. Their first completely vegan shoe, the canvas upper uses organic cotton and recycled aluminum eyelets. Like the rest of Keen's line, the Ventura makes comfort a high priority. The removable metatomical footbed—made from jute, cork and natural latex—helps mold...
Clae Summer 2008
Due to belatedly launch in the next week, Clae's Summer 2008 collection is further testament to the flawless level of detail that the brand strives for. We love the bright, perfectly-hued monotones and contrasts in texture this season. But what struck us this time is how impressive it is for such a young label to consistently come up with shoes that stay true to...
Gram Design Sneaker/Boots
by Naomi Nevitt When is a sneaker more than a sneaker? When it's a boot, too. Stockholm-based footwear label Gram Design has crafted a kicker that's just that: part city sneaker, park hiking boot. With a focus on clean lines, subtle humor, and refined classics, three-year-old company Gram kicks shoe-making forward, without stepping on the toes of functionality or comfort. Gram's 406g style is...
