Swims City Slipper: High Heel Galoshes by Ami Kealoha

Swims, the Norwegian line of sleek galoshes, has already saved many a pair of shoes from inclement weather with their designs geared for urbanites. Now, with the introduction of the City Slipper, heels can benefit from the same cleverly-conceived protection.

The new wrapper adds traction (in the form of a map of either New York, Paris or Tokyo) and shields delicate leather soles and other materials from splashes, sludge and any number of other hazards. We can even see these coming in handy for saving fine footwear from the normal perils of travel so that they're sure to be pristine upon arrival.

Like their flat counterparts, the Slippers are made from flexible silicone making them easy to put on and take off, as well as adaptable to nearly any heel height and thickness. A low-cut style accommodates bows and buckles. The obvious downside is that the design does leave the heel itself exposed so avoiding subway grates is still your job.

Look out for City Slippers on the Swims site soon.

J Shoes x Metro.Pop Magazine: Mpj Boot
by Mat Lyon J Shoes recently collaborated with Los Angeles, CA-based magazine metro.pop to produce the limited edition Mpj Boot. With the market saturated by minimally shaped and starkly-colored offerings, we like the refreshing leap back to the roots of shoe design. The Mpj boot reverently bows its head to Native America with its premium leather construction, removable fringe, sock liner made from recycled material...
Dr. Martens Monkey Boot
Peeking into what's next from Dr. Martens as they continue to revamp themselves for today's market, we found a couple of good options for Fall and Winter. New monochromes and a neon series are a very "now" treatment of their iconic heavy-soled boots, but we also like the more traditional look of their Monkey Boot. First released back in the late '60s as a...
Generic Man Fall 08
Here's a little peek of what's to come from The Generic Man this fall courtesy of Arktip. The upcoming line looks as if it's made from recycled clothing—most likely Boy Scout or military clothing. There's not much information on this yet, but the recycled cotton outer adds a casual, rough-hewn look. Dark brown laces contrasted with tan is always complimentary and the plaid inner...
Keen Ventura Canvas
Dubbed "Hybrid Footwear," Keen's shoe line has a clear emphasis on sustainability. The Ventura Canvas reflects this philosophy, while maintaining a classic, casual sneaker design. Their first completely vegan shoe, the canvas upper uses organic cotton and recycled aluminum eyelets. Like the rest of Keen's line, the Ventura makes comfort a high priority. The removable metatomical footbed—made from jute, cork and natural latex—helps mold...
