Cool Hunting

Daze is no stranger to Italy and come November, he's back in full force with a multimedia show in Naples. His latest solo show opens next month at Entropy Art and the city will also be treated to one of his singular public murals.
He's featuring several large paintings at the show with varied subject matter "like 'The big Bosses,' which is a play both on the corporate bigwigs and politicians that have a stranglehold on the average citizen," Daze tells CH. "And paintings like 'Blue Monday' in which a stylization of my name is the subject matter."
We love when Daze brings his graffiti-influenced strokes onto canvas, building an urban landscape within a gallery. The show will also feature smaller sketchbook paintings, made from hand drawn images collaged onto canvas. And what we're most excited about, a series of photos from the late '70s of Daze and friends running around Bronx train yards and painting graffiti . "They are a testament to what life in New York was like then," says Daze.
This expansive show of new work and historic photos is not to be missed. Alberto Polo is producing a catalog and DVD interview of his studio as part of the show.

A group show of six contemporary urban artists, "Don't Do That!" opens today, Friday, 4 May 2007, at Elms Lesters Painting Rooms. The show includes new constructivist pieces (pictured) and collages by Dutch artist Boris Tellegen (aka DELTA), a selection of paintings by pop surrealist Ron English (you may have seen his billboard interventions), new paintings by London-based artist Andrew McAttee, some of Dalek’s...
I was recently in L.A. for the weekend and was lucky enough to catch “The Burning House,” a collaborative installation by Faile, Swoon and David Ellis at New Image Art now extended through 17 March 2007. Walking into the gallery is overwhelming. Much like Wooster on Spring, Every inch of wall, window, or door has been wheat pasted or painted over. (Click above image...
I don’t know where Daze finds the time. In the last two weeks, he curated a show with Mass Appeal editorial director Sacha Jenkins, had a solo show at Midoma, painted a mural for Nike to help launch the World Cup, and tomorrow, 17 June 2006, the Daze-curated “New York’s Own” opens before he heads of to Italy for two solo shows the following...
The third annual Scion Installation opens tomorrow, 11 May 2006, in New York's East Village featuring an impressive list of legendary urban artists including Stay High 149, Crash, and Dr. Revolt. This year's edition of Installation highlights the work of graffiti art legends who have applied their individual style, color, and design aesthetics to three-foot long polyurethane sculptures of Scion's sleek and sporty tC,...
by Ariston Anderson For London street art fans, the must see-show this week is Faile's "Lost in Glimmering Shadows," as they bring their inimitable prints and paintings across the Atlantic. The art collective's London show last year, "From Brooklyn with Love," sold out instantly, and led to an invitation from the TATE Modern Gallery to invite them to paint their exterior this past May. This...
Artist, athlete, and activist Vanessa Chakour's abstract artwork is a vivid display of her stream of consciousness on canvas. With bold colors and shapes, her curious pieces are harmonious but come about through the chaotic interaction of an evolving sense of self and artistic expression. Her first one-woman exhibition entitled "Innerscapes" opens tonight at the Ambrosia Gallery in New Rochelle, NY. Innerscapes Opening reception:...
