Owindo Lighting

by Evan Orensten

Self-taught Designer Max Lam started Owindo as an offshoot of his Hong Kong-based Moderne Interior Design firm a few years back.

His 1960s and '70s-inspired lights now come in pendant, floor, wall, and table styles. He's recently introduced a new white finish in addition to the chrome-plated styles. A few of our favorites include (from top left, clockwise) the Prism Sixty, C.C.C.5.5P, Tube Complex and Diamond Complex.

Ferrari 456 Venice Station Wagon

by Tim Yu

ferrariwagon1.jpgAt Sotheby's Damien Hirst auction last week the artwork might have been the focus inside but there were a few gems found outside the venue as well. On site at the event Supertouch were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a rare Ferrari 456 Venice Station Wagon. The wagon is a custom coach build by Pininfarina and is privately owned by the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah.

Starting out as a 456 GT equipped with a V12 442 HP engine, the Sultan added 2 more doors and a hatchback to make a truly unique Ferrari you could tote you kids around in. Other customizations on this right-hand drive model include a slightly stretched wheelbase, new bodywork on the back end, and new seats.

Seven were made and the Sultan owns six of them, reportedly purchased for $1.5 million each in 1996.

Maccheronian Italian Army Sneaker

by Tim Yu

Maccheronianwhite.jpg Maccheronianblack.jpg

From the shoe brand that produces NATO's military shoes, Maccheronian recently released a shoe for civilians named the Italian Army Sneaker. Handmade in Romania, they claim to provide the comfort and support needed if you were to go to battle.

The Italian Army Sneaker features an upper that utilizes both canvas and suede providing for different textures and lines. We love its simplicity and attractive details, especially the use of the Italian national colors with the logo on the midsole and the two green and red lace holes. A brand that's popular in Eastern Europe and Japan, we're excited to see more from them in the future.

Currently available in black and off-white for ¥15,500 from ZoZo shop.

Wishpaper

by Tim Yu

Fortune_wish_small.jpg

My favorite part about eating a whole chicken is the wishbone and although I'm not suppose to say—I usually wish for more wishes. An alternative is the Wishpaper, a notepad that doubles as a paper wishbone offering 100 wishes.

Featuring a wishbone on every 4" x 5" page, each sheet has a 1" cut at the bottom. Just remove the page from the pad and pull the paper apart from the bottom corners. Whoever gets the bigger piece of the bone wins their wish. You can also write your wish on either side of the paper. We're not convinced it's completely fair—we've noticed whoever starts pulling first usually gets the larger end—but it's a fun and interesting dual-purpose note pad nonetheless.

Purchase 100 wishes in the form of Wishpaper at Pardoxy Products for $5. They also make Lovepaper and Decisionpaper which work off the same design concept.

Phillip Toledano's America: The Gift Shop

by Tim Yu

by Gabriel Bell

After eight years of government that's left a sizable chip on America's shoulder, it's no big surprise that George W-era memorabilia isn't exactly flooding the market. Enter Cool Hunting favorite, photographer Phillip Toledano with "America: The Gift Shop." A virtual exhibition with clever takes on the subjects of torture, special rendition and government secrecy, the book features enough cheek to make you gasp, giggle or groan (depending on your politics).

Turning to plastic arts instead of his camera, Toledano created a conceptual store of Bush administration mementos, including such satirical wonders as a bouncy Gitmo holding cell, an Abu Ghraib bobble-head doll and a Dick Cheney snow globe complete with shredded document confetti. Brilliant and disturbing, the collection, which is currently in search of a brick-and-mortar exhibition space, is one of the funniest things we've seen lately—it's also one of the scariest.
