J Shoes x Metro.Pop Magazine: Mpj Boot by Ami Kealoha

by Mat Lyon

J Shoes recently collaborated with Los Angeles, CA-based magazine metro.pop to produce the limited edition Mpj Boot.

With the market saturated by minimally shaped and starkly-colored offerings, we like the refreshing leap back to the roots of shoe design. The Mpj boot reverently bows its head to Native America with its premium leather construction, removable fringe, sock liner made from recycled material and dynamic sole illustration by California-based artist Joe Suitor. J Shoes are also collaborating with designer Carlos Campos on an exclusive range for his upcoming NYC fashion week show. To find retailers near you and discover more about J Shoes contact +1 410 902 0584 or visit their site.

Globe-Trotter x J. Crew Luggage
J. Crew has been making some surprisingly well-executed forays into the luxury market as of late and the latest such unexpected product is a collaboration with the British maker of hand-made traveling cases and trunks, Globe-Trotter. Though the New York-based clothier isn't the first to team up with Globe-Trotter (see the Conran shop's 2007 offering), their partnership goes further introducing a six-piece line of...
Neon Shoes
Designed from pieces of hand-painted leather, these sexy men's-style dress shoes recently premiered at Neon's winter fashion show and bring action and color to any get-up. The Brazilian label's co-designer Dudu Bertholini has been collecting leftover painted cow skin—some of them rare—from his trips abroad to New York and throughout his home country, at last finding the best use for them. Because he only...
Lazy Oaf Pimp My Pumps
The result of an exhibit called "Pimp My Pump", Lazy Oaf's off-the-wall designer shoes are inventive one-offs all using the classic plimsol as a canvas. Definitely in the same vein as French artist Manu Angot and our own Seth Brau, the collection includes works by such up-and-coming talents as Kate Moross, Brennan & Burch (pictured right) and Peskimo (pictured center). We like them all,...
Melissa Winter '08
Brazil's plastic footwear company Melissa, whose latest new collaboration was with none other than the Grande Dame of British fashion, Vivienne Westwood, is keeping it coming with some other exciting models in its upcoming Winter 2008 collection that deserve spotlights. It's proof in the plastic that the mania for their candy-scented shoes—much of them done in partnership with major designers—will once again go unrivaled....
