Acne: Hockney Socks by Tim Yu

HockneySocks1.jpg

Who would've thought that the humble sock could work as an interpretation of a personality? That's exactly what Acne does with their new Hockney Socks due out this fall. Applying the same aesthetic appeal as the pop pioneer for which they're named, the footwear references his bright a bold colors and cubist-like paintings, drawing and photographs.

Known for wearing the occasional mismatched pair himself, the collection includes a couple options for the sartorially irreverent. It helps that Acne shares a similarly impeccable sense of color; they did a great job of designing complimentary pairs.

The Hockney socks will be available online in the next few days at Acne for $50 per pair.

Good things come in small packages, so great things must come from what has to be the smallest store in NYC, Laura Lobdell's jewelry store in the West Village, which opened last week. I'm a longtime fan of her found object-based designs and with the store's large assortment of playful and quotidian jewelry makes it easy to find the right gift for anyone. Perfect for...
Dr. Martens Monkey Boot
Peeking into what's next from Dr. Martens as they continue to revamp themselves for today's market, we found a couple of good options for Fall and Winter. New monochromes and a neon series are a very "now" treatment of their iconic heavy-soled boots, but we also like the more traditional look of their Monkey Boot. First released back in the late '60s as a...
Timo Wallets
by Jonathan Lawhorne "Sustainability has always been integral to our philosophy," says designer Timo Weiland of his new line TIMO!. The eye-popping, graphic wallets (think pixelated scans and wild graphic illustrations) use eco-friendly materials such as recyclable paper, soy ink and post-consumer vinyl in their super-slim design. "We wanted to create basic bi-fold and tri-fold wallets that allowed users to streamline their life with...
