Cool Hunting
One of my new favorite stores in Vancouver (well one of my new favorites anywhere, actually) is Roden Gray, a recent addition to Vancouver's trendy Gastown neighborhood.
Roden Gray maintains a carefully-selected range of clothing, shoes, bags and accessories from labels that bring sophistication to casual menswear such as Wings + Horns, Filson, Nice Collective and Obedient Sons. My particular favorites on a recent visit were the plain (but extremely well-cut) t-shirts in sexy black boxes and the white leather high-tops with side zippers, both from Wings + Horns.
Apart from the great products, I'm also loving the local Douglas Fir logs that have been burned and then transformed into displays, as well as the customized lighting by Canadian industrial designer Omer Arbel.

A new home for the best in retro-mod and limited-edition men's shoes, Ubiq, has just opened on Philadelphia's Walnut Street. Designed by Rafael de Cardenas, the optically stimulating store vibrates with black-and-white patterns, intense and strategic lighting, and reflective surfaces. The back of the store holds a standout collection of men's clothing and accessories in a space designed to feel like an old Upper...
Only a little more than six months old, Brecho Luxo is causing somewhat of a sensation with the fashion cult here in São Paulo. Founded by Paula Reboredo and Gil Franca, who run the São Paulo street fashion blog Freakstyle with journalist Maira Goldschmidt (that we told you about last year), opened the vintage store with a fabulously edited selection of clothes and accessories...
By Christina PanasJust five years after opening their flagship Williamsburg boutique, and on the heels of a Park Slope outpost, Oak co-owners Louis Terline and Jeff Madalena are making that first East River crossing with sleek new digs in NoLita, a shop that opens officially on Monday. "It happened quickly," says Terline, when asked how long the latest store had been in the works. "This...
When Ana Strumpf moved her store Garimpo and Fuxique to Jardins, a cosmopolitan São Paulo shopping district just blocks away from the busier, pricier and more famous Rua Oscar Freire, she eyed the lot of empty stores around the corner from hers and had an idea. Bringing in designers to fill those spots had the potential to create a new commercial area. She got...
We were among the excited first today to check out A.P.C.'s latest store (and the second of their outlets worldwide) today in Brooklyn. Called A.P.C. Surplus for its flat 60% discounted prices, the Williamsburg storefront is housed in a beautiful former bank with plenty of rustic charm (i.e. it looks as if it recently caught fire). At only 600 square feet, the space feels...
