May 68: Street Posters from the Paris Rebellion
by Doug Black
To mark the 40th anniversary of the 1968 student protests that led to the eventual collapse of the De Gaulle government in France, London's Hayward Project Space is exhibiting "May 68: Street Posters from the Paris Rebellion," a collection of the protest's most iconic posters. Some of the most vibrant imagery ever linked to a political or social movement, the posters were produced entirely anonymously and distributed to the masses for free. The exhibition features 46 posters that range from the hopeful to incendiary. The above left example depicts the CDR (the Republican Defense Company) forcing their press, radio and television into the mind of a forcibly silenced Frenchman.
In conjunction with the exhibition, Keep Calm Gallery is offering a limited-edition book that contains hand screen-printed reproductions of 40 of the original posters. They will offer an extremely limited number (less than 10 each) of printer's proofs exclusively in their East Dulwich gallery. More info on how to attain one of these rare prints at Keep Calm.

Assembly New York
by Tim Yu
by Jason Wilson
This week, Greg Armas, former master of L.A.'s Scout, braves the NYC retail wilderness equipped with an aptly named bridle, Assembly. An avid vintage collector and former gallerist, Armas compiled an attractive collection of classic and contemporary men's clothing, antiques and vinyl in a bold attempt to disseminate a style rather than singular must-haves. Ksubi fishnet-knit sweatshirts blend perfectly next to a vintage black-velvet waistcoat, hand-painted with a pointillist stagecoach motif. A bright pair of kente cloth sneakers rests above a rack of Endovanera jackets.
Armas plans to elaborate on his particular brand of retail authenticity through a series of collaborations. "I'm excited about working with a lot of the designers on projects exclusive to Assembly that reach beyond clothing into objects, music and the obscure," he says. Though the store will also host a rotating exhibition of women's accessories, this gathering is essentially just for the boys. Read more.

MyWalit.com
by Ami Kealoha
When a friend came back from Lucca, Italy recently with a gorgeously-colored leather wallet, we had to find out more. Thanks to unsubtle branding, it was easy enough to do. MyWalit.com is home to an extensive range of wallets in various colorways and styles, all with the impressive craftsmanship that we thought we had to go to Lucca to find.
With models including a medium tri-fold (€50), a zipped clutch (€65), a classic bi-fold (€40), there's something suited for every need. A design like the Matinee (€60) is a great example of the multiple slots and pockets that make the line particularly useful.
BMW M1
by Tim Yu
In celebration of the M1's 30th anniversary, BMW quietly introduced a new model at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este last weekend. An aggressive, low-profile sports car, aspects of the design hark back to the original M1.
The wide stance, louvered rear window and pentagonal rims combine an '80s retro look with a contemporary, almost sinister feel for a car that pretty much every boy has wanted since adolescence. The front grille features two intakes for cooling and four hidden headlights. Take a close look at the photos after the jump because that's all you'll get for now as the new M1 is just a concept car. We'll keep our fingers crossed in hopes that it will go into production.
